Dr. Bonnie Bright in conversation with Jevon Dangeli and transpersonal coaching students – exploring this multifaceted and multidimensional approach to coaching.
Soul-Centered Coaching Psychology, is based on tenets of Depth psychology—founded in large part by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung and his then-mentor, Sigmund Freud, in the early 20th century. It is also grounded in Transpersonal psychology, which emerged in the late 1960s—established by Stanislav Grof, Abraham Maslow, and others. Finally, it incorporates Archetypal Psychology, created by contemporary Jungian, James Hillman. It is also informed by many wisdom traditions.
These three branches of psychology overlap in many areas, but perhaps most importantly, each is related to care and tending of the soul. As one of the founding fathers of Depth psychology, Jung pioneered an idea he called the collective unconscious, a province which is infinite and unknowable; a depository that includes all psychic material and systems that are not conscious. In Soul-Centered Coaching Psychology, the term “soul self” is used interchangeably with the term “collective unconscious” to describe that infinite aspect of ourselves that can serve as a GPS in our lives.
Soul-Centered Coaching Psychology is Dr Bright’s style of transpersonal coaching, based on Somatic, Symbolic, and Shamanic approaches for working experientially with clients.
